MINNEAPOLIS – In its final exhibition contest of the preseason the Drake women's soccer team lost at Minnesota, 8-0, on Saturday, Aug. 15.
“We knew our final two exhibition games were going to be a challenge,” said head coach Lindsey Horner. “We learned far more about ourselves during our Kansas and Minnesota games than our Western Illinois win. Our weaknesses were exposed and we paid for our errors in the form of goals. We'll use this final week of the preseason to address these and prepare for our home opener. Three road games within the first ten days of preseason certainly tested us, but I'm confident that we will have a steep learning curve.”
Drake was outshot by Minnesota, 25-9, and 13-3 on shots on goal. Senior Rhian Pritchard (Prairie Village, Kan.) led the Bulldogs with two shots on goal while fellow senior Alex Freeman (Duluth, Minn.) added one.
Drake welcomes UMKC to the Cownie Soccer Complex on Friday, Aug. 21 at 7 p.m. to start the 2015 regular season.
