ST. LOUIS, Mo. -- Drake University football's Cam Bohnert was named Pioneer Football League (PFL) Special Teams Player of the Week, while Mack Marrin earned PFL Defensive Player of the Week honor for their performances on Saturday, the league announced on Sunday (Sept. 27).
Bohnert, a senior from Edmond, Okla., averaged 44.5 yards per punt to aid Drake's 41-3 PFL victory against Stetson, Saturday. He punted just four times but all four punts went for more than 40 yards, including a 50-yard punt on his final attempt. Three of those punts were fair caught (two inside the 20-yard line) and the lone return was fumbled and led to a Drake touchdown. Bohnert also handled kickoff duties with eight kicks and made two tackles.
Marrin, a junior from Mendota Heights, had four tackles for loss as Drake shut down the Stetson run attack. His four tackles for loss are seventh most in a FCS game this season and led a Bulldogs defense that held Stetson to a school-record low zero net rushing yards (178 total yards). Marrin set the tone with his first two stops, a two-yard tackle for loss then a six-yard sack to help stall Stetson's game-opening drive. He finished with two sacks as part of a six-tackle (four solo) performance.
Bohnert, Marring and the rest of the Bulldogs will travel to Campbell on Saturday.
