ST. LOUIS – Junior Kayla Armstrong (Cedar Rapids, Iowa) of the Drake women's soccer team was named Missouri Valley Conference Offensive Player of the Week for her performance for the week of Sept. 21-27, the league announced Tuesday morning.

Armstrong had a great week for Drake, scoring one goal and collecting two assists. Her goal came in a back-and-forth, 3-2, loss to former MVC-rival Creighton while she handed out the two assists in a 3-2 comeback win at Illinois State as the Bulldogs snapped a 10-match losing streak to the Redbirds.

Armstrong missed the first three games of the season, but has three goals and three assists in eight games since, including seven starts.

Drake returns to the field Oct. 2 when it hosts Indiana State at 7 p.m. at Cownie Soccer Complex.
