Women's Soccer Road Trip Begins Friday At Northern Colorado

GREELEY, Colo. – The Drake women's soccer team travels west this week for two games as the Bulldogs visit Northern Colorado on Friday before closing their road trip at Wyoming on Sunday.

Drake is 2-2 this season with wins over Pacific and South Dakota and losses to UMKC and South Dakota State. Freshman midfielder Alyssa Brand (Skokie, Ill.) leads Drake with two goals, including a golden goal to beat Pacific, while sophomore defender Kasey Hurt (Ankeny, Iowa) paces the squad in assists with two. Eight different players have scored at least one goal this season for Drake.

Northern Colorado is 3-1 with wins over Air Force, Pittsburgh and Southeast Missouri State with its lone defeat to Colorado College. Sydney Schroeder leads the Bears with two goals while Rebecca Lancia has a team-high three assists.

Wyoming has opened the season with three consecutive ties against Montana, Hawaii and Denver. The Cowgirls will host Morehead State on Friday before playing the Bulldogs Sunday. Shaina Ashouri and Laurel Ramer have each scored one goal with both occurring in the contest against Hawaii.

Drake continues its season-long four game road trip with games next week at Omaha (Sept. 11) and at Saint Louis (Sept. 13). Drake returns to Cownie Soccer Complex on Sept. 20 for an in-state battle with Iowa State at 1 p.m.
