Women's Soccer Drops Heartbreaker At Northern Colorado

Box Score

GREELEY, Colo. – Northern Colorado scored a goal as time expired in the second overtime session to slip past Drake women's soccer, 2-1, Friday night.

Drake (2-3) tied the game at 1-1 with a goal from junior Rebecca Rodgers (Peotone, Ill.) off an assist from senior Rhian Pritchard (Prairie Village, Kan.) at the 77th (76:49) mark. The goal was the second of the season for Rodgers.

Northern Colorado (4-1) got its first goal as the Bulldogs scored in their own goal. Sydney Schroeder scored the game-winning goal in the second overtime session.

“I'm gutted for our players,” said Drake head coach Lindsey Horner. “They showed tremendous fight all night and resilience on the road. That was an exciting game that could have turned out differently but in terms of our preparation and performance I'm very proud of our team.”

Drake visits Wyoming to close its weekend trip out west. First kick is set for 2 p.m. CST against the Cowgirls.
