NORMAL, Ill. – The Drake University women's golf opened the 2015 season at the Redbird Invitational on Sunday. After two rounds of play the Bulldogs are in 11th place out of 16 team.
Through 54 holes, the Bulldogs recorded a 637 (308-329), while MVC-foe Bradley is tied with Bowling Green for first-place with a score of 612.
“Our first round was a solid way to start the season. I was really impressed with how our new players stepped up. Grace started 5 over after five holes and played even par her last 13, showing her mental toughness,” said head coach Rachael Pruett. “The afternoon round was disappointing after such a great start, but we learned what we need to work on and are excited to get back out there tomorrow and get it done.”
Individually, sophomore Madison Glennie (Clearwater, Fla.) led the Bulldogs by shooting a 157 (77-80) and is tied for 34th-place. Senior Katie Clausen (Hinton, Iowa) is just one shot behind Glennie, with a 158 (78-80), tied for 40th. Freshman Grace Dunn (Brookfield, Wis.) carded a 159 (77-82), while fellow freshman Sophia Hill (Medford, Minn.) posted a 163 (76-87). Sophomore Brooke Miller (Pomona, Calif.) rounded out the Bulldogs' effort with a score of 175 (85-90).
