Women's Basketball Travels To Iowa State On Sunday Night

Drake opens the home portion of its schedule Nov. 27 against Wyoming at 2 p.m.

AMES, Iowa – The Drake University women team travels to Iowa State on Sunday, Nov. 20 evening. Tipoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. in Hilton Coliseum.

Drake (1-1) and Iowa State (2-0) squared off last season in the Knapp Center in the first game of the year for both teams. The Bulldogs claimed a 74-70 victory over the Cyclones to snap a five-game losing streak in the series. Iowa State holds a slight edge, 28-27, in all-time series and has won 10 of the previous 12 games against Drake.

Drake dropped a back-and-forth contest at Creighton, 80-77, Thursday night. Senior Caitlin Ingle (Runnells, Iowa) led the Bulldogs with a career-tying 20 points while senior Lizzy Wendell (Blue Springs, Iowa) added 19 points, seven rebounds and seven assists. Sophomore Sammie Bachrodt (Wichita, Kan.) scored a career-high 16 points along with five rebounds and four steals. The exciting game between the former MVC rivals featured 14 lead changes and seven ties. Drake led by two points with 2:56 to play, but went scoreless the remainder of the game as Creighton earned the win.

Ingle's career scoring night gives her 990 career points. With 10 more points, she will be the 29th Bulldog in program history to score 1,000 or more points. Wendell just missed her 50th career 20-plus scoring game, but did extend her double-figure scoring streak to 80-straight games. Wendell leads the league in scoring at 26.5 points while Ingle is the assists leader at 8.5 and ranks fifth in scoring at 16.5 points per game.

Iowa State held off UNI Tuesday night at home for a 76-68 win. Jadda Buckley scored a game-high 25 points while All-Big 12 preseason selection Seanna Johnson had a double-double with 15 points and a career-high 18 rebounds. The Cyclones have four returning starters from last season's team.

Sunday's game in Ames will be the third-straight road game for the Bulldogs to start the 2016-17 season. Drake hosts Wyoming Nov. 27 at 2 p.m. in its home opener.
