Football Hosts Butler On Senior Day Saturday

DES MOINES, Iowa -- The Drake University football team wraps up the home portion of its schedule on Saturday as the Bulldogs host Butler at 1 p.m.

The Bulldogs will honor 15 seniors as they will run out of the Ron Olson Tunnel at Drake Stadium one final time. They are Blake Beauchamp, Taylor Coleman, Rory Driscoll, Colby Dunn, Kyle Garcia, Jeremy Kahen, Grant Krueger, Josh Lee, Aaron Melton, Michael Roane, Eric Saubert, Cody Stepanek, Conley Wilkins, Zach Zlabis and Caz Zyks.

The Bulldogs enter Saturday's game with a 5-4 record and are 4-2 in PFL play and came away with a fourth-quarter come from behind victory at Jacksonville, 31-27. After dropping its first three PFL games, Butler has won two of its last four games. Butler is coming off a 54-28 loss to Morehead State. Saturday's contest will be the 26th all-time meeting between Drake and Butler. Drake leads the all-time series, 16-8-1, and has won the last nine meetings at Drake Stadium.

Senior running back Conley Wilkins is one of the best in the PFL and is looking to become the first Bulldog to rush over 1,000 yards since 2007. He ranks second in the PFL with 863 rushing yards and 1,248 all purpose yards. Wilkins has found the end zone eight times this season and has scored at least one touchdown in eight of his last 11 games, dating back to last season. For the second-straight year, fifth-year senior Eric Saubert is leading the Bulldogs in receiving. This season, he has racked up 588 receiving yards on 48 receptions and seven touchdowns. Last year, he caught 55 passes for 580 yards receiving and nine touchdowns. Defensively, fifth-year senior Taylor Coleman leads the Bulldogs and ranks sixth in PFL with 8.5 tackles per game. He recorded a season-high 16 tackles in Drake's setback at Dayton on Oct. 1.

Butler is led by wide receiver Pace Temple and Duvante Lane. Pace has tallied 846 of the team's 1,918 receiving yards, while Lane has recorded 580 rushing yards and eight touchdowns. Defensively, Ethan Brunhofer and Sean Horan has registered 63 and 62 tackles, respectively.
