The Drake University men's basketball team travels to SIU for the second meeting between the Bulldogs and Salukis on Saturday afternoon. Tipoff is scheduled for 3 p.m. at SIU Arena with the contest being broadcast on MVC TV affiliates.
Saturday's contest will feature two of the top three scorers in the Missouri Valley Conference in Drake's Reed Timmer and SIU's Anthony Beane, Jr. Timmer, a sophomore, is averaging 17.6 points per game to rank third in the MVC while Beane, a senior, is second at 20.0 points per game. Timmer has made a habit of scoring against the Salukis as he has averaged 23.7 points per game in his his three career games against SIU. In the first meeting between the two programs this season, Timmer scored 27 points in an 81-76 home loss to the Salukis. The last time the Bulldogs traveled to Carbondale, Timmer scored a then career-high 25 points at SIU Arena.
As a team, the Bulldogs travel to 'Little Egypt' following a 74-48 home loss to No. 25/24 Wichita State on Tuesday evening to fall to 6-19 overall and 1-12 in the MVC. SIU is 19-7 overall this season and 8-5 in the MVC following an 85-78 victory at Indiana State on Wednesday to snap a three-game losing streak.
In addition to Timmer's prolific scoring, Drake sophomore Ore Arogundade has averaged 11.7 points and 6.5 rebounds per game in the last seven games and freshman center Dominik Olejniczak has also seen his offensive production surge as he is 26-of-34 from the field in the last eight games.

Following Saturday's game, the Bulldogs return home to close out the season series with Evansville on Wednesday, Feb. 17, at 8 p.m. in the Knapp Center.
