DES MOINES, Iowa – The Drake University women's tennis team travels to Wyoming on Saturday and Denver on Sunday. The Bulldogs begin the weekend in Laramie, Wyo. against Northern Colorado at 12 p.m. and then versus Wyoming at 4:30 p.m. The team squares off against 56
th-ranked Denver at 12 p.m. on Sunday.
Drake has a 4-2 record and is coming off a pair of wins last weekend, beating Green Bay, 4-0, and Creighton 6-1. Senior
Maddie Johnson and sophomores
Tess Herder and
Mela Jaglarz have led the Bulldogs. Johnson and Herder have a 3-1 singles record at No. 3 and No. 4, respectively, while Jaglarz has tallied a team-best four singles wins at the No. 6 spot.
Northern Colorado enters the weekend 2-0, beating a pair of Division II programs and will host Colorado on Friday. UNC is led by Beth Coton and Remi Immler, who are ranked the 40
th best doubles team in the nation.
Wyoming enters the weekend with a 4-3 record overall after a split over this past weekend. Last year, the Cowgirls fell to the Bulldogs, 5-2, as Drake holds a 4-1 advantage in the all-time series.
The 56
th-ranked Pioneers has a 7-1 record, and prior to hosting the Bulldogs they travel to No. 71 New Mexico on Friday. Denver is coming off an excellent weekend as it upset No. 51 Utah before defeating BYU and Utah State.
Drake continues its six-match road trip on Sunday, Feb. 21 at Kansas State.
