Women's Tennis Travels To K-State Sunday

DES MOINES, Iowa – The Drake University women's tennis team heads to Manhattan, Kan. to take on the K-State Wildcats at 11 a.m.

The Bulldogs have a 5-4 record after beating Northern Colorado and losing to Wyoming and Denver last weekend. Leading the way for Drake is senior Maddie Johnson and sophomores Tess Herder and Mela Jaglarz, each with four dual match singles victories this year. Herder is also paired with Mariel Ante to hold the best dual match doubles record on the team at 4-3.

K-State is coming off a 10-day lay-off and will play Air Force prior to squaring off with the Bulldogs. The Wildcats are 3-2 and led by Livia Cirnu and Millie Stretton, who each have four dual match singles wins this season.

With temperature forecast in the upper 50s, Sunday's match will be played outdoors. This will be the Bulldogs first time playing outside since the fall.

Following Sunday's match, Drake travels to Lincoln, Neb. to compete against Nebraska and South Dakota on February 27 at the Sid and Hazel Dillon Tennis Center.
