Women's Tennis Set To Square Off Against Nebraska and South Dakota

DES MOINES, Iowa – The Drake University women's tennis team travels to Lincoln, Neb. to take on the Nebraska Huskers and the South Dakota Coyotes on Saturday. The Bulldogs will square off against the Huskers at 11 a.m. before finishing the day against South Dakota at 3:30 p.m.

The Bulldogs will be looking to snap a three-match losing streak. Last week, Drake played its first match of the season outdoors and fell at K-State. Leading the way for Drake is senior Maddie Johnson and sophomores Tess Herder and Mela Jaglarz, each with four dual match singles victories this year. Herder is also paired with Mariel Ante to hold the best dual match doubles record on the team at 4-3.

The Huskers enter the weekend with a 9-1 record and will play South Dakota on Friday evening. Nebraska is on a three-match winning streak with its lone loss coming against No. 32 Wichita State on Feb. 13.

The Coyotes are 4-4 on the year and fell at Boise State, 6-1 in their last time out. Elise van Zijst leads the team with five dual match singles wins, followed by Maria Pandya and Milica Pavlovic with four apiece.

The Bulldogs return to the Roger Knapp Tennis Center on March 5 when they host Marquette and Gustavus Adolphus at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., respectively.
