DES MOINES, Iowa – The Drake University women's tennis team posted a pair of victories on Saturday at the Roger Knapp Tennis Center as the Bulldogs defeated Green Bay 4-0 before beating Creighton 6-1.

The Bulldogs jumped on the Phoenix early, earning a pair of 6-1 victories to win the doubles point.

Drake continued its dominance in singles as the Bulldogs won the first set on all six courts and only gave up a combined four games. Mela Jaglarz was the first off the court, winning 6-1, 6-0 at No. 6. Minutes later, Tess Herder finished her strong performance at No. 4, beating Samm Pedersen, 6-1, 6-0 as Mariel Ante clinched the match for the Bulldogs by cruising past Stephanie Londre, 6-0, 6-1.

The Bulldogs used a near perfect performance by Ante and Herder at No. 1, winning 6-0, and a strong 7-5 victory by Maddie Johnson and Joely Lomas at No. 2 to secure the doubles point against Creighton.

In singles, Ante broke Katherine Nelson's serve to close out a, 6-1, 6-4, win at No. 2 and gave Drake a 2-0 lead. The Blue Jays made it 2-1 with a win at No. 1, but Johnson put together a straight set victory, 6-4, 6-2, to put Drake ahead 3-1. Herder clinched the match for the Bulldogs with a 6-2, 6-1 victory at No. 4, while Jaglarz and Lomas came away victorious to give Drake the dominating 6-1 win.

The Bulldogs will head west next week as they travel to Wyoming on Saturday and Denver on Sunday.
