DES MOINES, Iowa — The Drake University women's tennis team hosts Marquette and Gustavus Adolphus on Saturday at the Roger Knapp Tennis Center. The Bulldogs square off against the Golden Eagles at 10 a.m. before finishing the day against Gustavus at 1 p.m.
The Bulldogs enter the weekend with a 6-6 record and are happy to be back in the friendly confines of the Roger Knapp Tennis Center as they are 4-1 this year at home this season and were 14-1 last season. Last week, Drake fell to Nebraska, 4-0, but bounced back to dominate South Dakota, beating the Coyotes, 4-0. Senior
Maddie Johnson leads the team with five dual match singles win, followed by sophomores
Tess Herder and
Mela Jaglarz with four apiece.
Marquette comes to Des Moines with a 5-4 record and fell to Indiana, 5-2, in its last time out. MU is led by senior Aleeza Kanner who has won six of her seven singles contests. Silvia Ambrosio and Erin Gebes lead the Golden Eagles' doubles play as they have won 12 of their last 15 matches.
Gustavus has 4-2 record this season and are led by Briana Hartmann, who is a perfect 5-0 in dual match play.
Following the meeting with Marquette and Gustavus, the Bulldogs will host Northern Illinois and Milwaukee on March 12.
