DES MOINES, Iowa – The Drake University women's tennis team closes out the regular season this weekend as the Bulldogs hosts Bradley on Saturday and Illinois State on Sunday at the Roger Knapp Tennis Center.
The Bulldogs will honor their four seniors,
Mariel Ante,
Jordan Eggleston,
Maddie Johnson and
Lea Kozulic on Sunday.
Drake enters the weekend with a 12-11 overall record and a 2-3 mark in Missouri Valley Conference action. The Bulldogs are led by Johnson, who is on a three-match winning streak and holds a 13-3 dual match singles record. Freshman
Joely Lomas is the team's top doubles player with a 14-5 record.
Bradley comes to Des Moines with a 11-11 record and is 2-3 in league play as well. The Braves topped Missouri State, 4-3, in their last time out. Bradley has two players with 13 dual match singles wins, Malini Wijesinghe and Ariel Dechter.
Prior to coming to Des Moines, Illinois State squares off against Northern Iowa on Saturday. The Redbirds are 12-9 overall and 3-2 in league play. ISU has five players with 10 or more dual match singles wins and are led by Marcia Tere-Apisah, who has a 15-3 record this spring.
Following this weekend's matches, the Bulldogs travel to Wichita, Kan. for the MVC Championship on April 29 through May 1.
