WICHITA, Kan. -- The Drake University women's tennis team defeated Missouri State, 4-1 in the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament Friday evening at the Wichita Country Club in Wichita, Kan.
 
Senior Maddie Johnson won the first singles match in the No. 2 spot, 6-3, 6-2 racking up her 101st career singles win putting her only two wins away from the Drake all-time record. Sophomore Summer Brills came back from losing her first set to win the match, 3-6, 6-2, 6-2 before Tess Herder picked a 7-5, 6-3 win in the No. 3 spot, while freshman Joely Lomas clinched the Bulldogs victory with a 6-1, 6-4 win in the No. 5 spot.

The Bulldogs will face Southern Illinois on Saturday at 2 p.m. in the semifinal of the MVC tournament.
