Women's Tennis Returns To MVC Action At Missouri State

DES MOINES, Iowa – Following a strong 4-2 win over Saint Louis on Thursday, the Drake University women's tennis team heads to Missouri State on Saturday and No. 22 Wichita State on Sunday.
 
The Bulldogs return to conference play with a 1-0 record after beating UNI last month. Drake is making its first road trip in over a month and will be looking for its first win on the road. The Bulldogs are lead by senior Maddie Johnson with a 10-3 singles dual match record. Freshman Joely Lomas has the team's best doubles record with a 12-3 mark.
 
Missouri State enters the weekend on a six-match winning streak with its last loss against Saint Louis, 7-0 on Feb. 26. The Bears only as one player with winning singles records, Faty Khamissi, who has a 10-6 dual match singles record.
 
Wichita State has won its last eight match with six of them being over nationally ranked teams. The Shockers are a perfect 4-0 at home and earned a 4-0 shutout over No. 48 Texas-Arlington in their last time out. WSU has five players with 10 or more dual match singles wins and are led by Giulia Guidetti, who has a 16-1 record.
 
The Bulldogs will continue its road trip as they travel to Evansville on April 16 and Southern Illinois on April 17.
