DES MOINES, Iowa – This summer junior Austin Dismond is a summer promotions crew intern with the Iowa Wild, an AHL hockey team affiliate for the Minnesota Wild. GoDrakeBulldogs.com checked in with Austin to see what his experience has been like so far and how he believes this experience will help his future.
 
Q: What does your internship consist of?
A: This internship consists of marketing and community relations activities, as we attempt to increase public awareness and excitement for the upcoming Iowa Wild season. We are encouraged to develop leads for the sales department and also make on the spot sales.
 
Q: How did you learn about your internship opportunity?
A: I learned about this internship online, while searching for sports internship in Des Moines. With all of the athletic teams that Des Moines is host to, it wasn't too difficult to find an internship in the sports industry.
 
Q: Before you started your internship, what were your goals for your internship?
A: Before starting this internship, my goals were to build my resume and network within the sports marketing industry.
 
Q: How will this internship help you in your future?
A: This internship will help me in my future because I now have my foot in the sports marketing industry, as I have made connections with a premier, distinguished sports team in Des Moines. I also have a huge resume addition with this internship, which will ultimately make me a more desirable candidate for future internships and jobs.
