DES MOINES, Iowa – Just three days after winning the FAU Invitational title, the Drake University volleyball team returns to the Knapp Center for its home opener on Tuesday, Aug. 30. First serve against visiting South Dakota State is scheduled for 6 p.m. with the contest being broadcast via The Valley on ESPN3.

The Bulldogs take to their home court with a 3-1 record after defeating Northeastern, Florida Atlantic and Bethune-Cookman over the weekend to win a season opening tournament title for the third-straight season. Over the last three years, the Bulldogs are a combined 10-1 on the first weekend of the season.

South Dakota State makes the short trip to Des Moines with a 1-2 record after opening the season in Green Bay, Wis. Last season, Drake defeated the Jackrabbits, 3-0, in Brookings, S.D.

Junior Kyla Inderski (Urbandale, Iowa) opened the season for the Bulldogs with 63 kills in four matches to earn FAU Invitational MVP honors while hitting .289 in those four games with 37 digs.  She opened the season with a career-high 19 kills in back-to-back games against Northeastern and North Florida. Many of those kills came off sets from senior Chandelle Davidson (Gretna, Neb.) who had 87 to earn a spot on the FAU Invitational all-tournament team along with junior Kameo Pope (Belle Plaine, Neb.). Pope led Drake at the net with 16 blocks to go along with her 18 kills and team-high seven aces.

Following Tuesday's home opener, the team returns to the road for three games at the Omaha Classic next Friday and Saturday in Omaha, Neb.
