ST. LOUIS –
Rebecca Rodgers (Peotone, Ill.) of the Drake University women's soccer team has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Women's Soccer Player of the Week for the second-straight week while freshman
Hannah Bormann (Amana, Iowa) has been selected MVC Newcomer of the Week for the second time this season, the conference office announced Monday afternoon.
Rodgers recorded a hat trick in a 4-2 win over Valparaiso in the team's lone action of the week. It is her second career hat trick and she has scored nine goals this year, which ranks second in the MVC. Rodgers is a redshirt senior forward, who missed nearly all of the 2016 season due to injury. Last week she became Drake's all-time leading goals scorer and now has 36 career goals and 84 career points. Rodgers has scored eight goals in the past six matches for Drake. This is Rodgers' seventh career MVC Player of the Week award.
Bormann, a forward, assisted on two of Rodgers' goals in the victory over the Crusaders. In her first season, she leads the team with four assists and has scored one goal. Bormann was previously named MVC Newcomer of the Week on Sept. 18.
Drake, which is on a five-match winning streak, continues MVC play on Oct. 6 when Indiana State visits for a 7 p.m. match at the Cownie Soccer Complex. The match against the Sycamores will be broadcast on
The Valley on ESPN3.
