The Drake University volleyball team takes its eight-game win streak and 4-0 Missouri Valley Conference record on the road this weekend with matches at Evansville and Indiana State. The two-game road stand starts Friday night at Evansville and closes Saturday at Indiana State.
The Bulldogs and Evansville is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start followed by a 6 p.m. CDT start at Indiana State. Both matches will be broadcast on
The Valley on ESPN3.
Dating back to last season, the Bulldogs have won six-straight MVC games and eight of their last 10 matches against conference opponents. The Bulldogs have gone a combined 9-1 in their last 10 meetings with the Sycamores and Purple Aces. This season, Evansville is winless in the conference at 0-4 while Indiana State is off to one of its best starts in program history at 3-1 in the MVC.
Overall, Drake is 15-3 this season and recently checked into the top-100 in the NCAA RPI at No. 98.
Defense has been key to the Bulldogs' 4-0 start to conference play as the Bulldogs lead the MVC in digs in conference games with 20.73 per set and are second in blocks with 2.27 per set. Much of that success has come from the team's freshmen as
Kylee Macke is second in league games in digs at 5.73 per set.
Offensively, the Bulldogs are led by reigning MVC Player of the Week,
Kyla Inderski. She has recorded seven-straight double-doubles and is averaging 4.12 kills and 4.27 digs per set. In MVC games, she is the only player ranked in the top five in both kills and digs. She is also ranked second all-time at Drake in kills (1,272) and fifth in digs (1,280).
Following this weekend's matches, the Bulldogs return home to host Missouri State and SIU next weekend at the Knapp Center.
