DES MOINES, Iowa – The Drake University women's basketball team closes its 2017 Preseason WNIT appearance with a consolation home game against Liberty on Friday. Tipoff in the first-ever meeting between the teams is set for 7 p.m. at the Knapp Center. The game will be broadcast on The Valley on ESPN3.
 
Drake (1-1, RV) lost at 2017 Elite 8 participant and No. 10 Oregon, 110-77, on Sunday to send the Bulldogs to the consolation bracket. The Bulldogs trailed by single digits early in the third quarter, but the Ducks ripped off a 13-2 scoring run to pull away for the win and send them to the semifinals, where they will play at Texas A&M on Thursday. Drake was led in scoring for the second-straight game by redshirt sophomore Sara Rhine (Eldon, Mo.) who scored 14 points. Freshman Katie Van Scyoc (Green Lake, Wis.) came off the bench and added a career-high 11 points behind a career-best three three-pointers. Sophomores Becca Hittner (Urbandale, Iowa) and Brenni Rose (Shawnee, Kan.) each finished with 10 points while junior Sammie Bachrodt (Wichita, Kan.) just missed double figures with nine points to go with four assists.
 
Liberty (1-1) is a member of the Big South Conference. The Lady Flames are coming off a 74-50 loss at No. 24 Michigan on Sunday. Liberty defeated Old Dominion 63-55 in its season opener. Friday's game against Drake is the third of five-straight road games to start the season for the Lady Flames. Liberty is led in scoring by the 2017 Big South Freshman of the Year, Keyen Green, with a team-leading 9.5 points and 6.5 rebounds averages.
 
Following Friday's game, Drake hits the road for three-consecutive road games. Up first for the Bulldogs is a trip to Laramie, Wyo. to play Wyoming on Nov. 21. Drake closes the week with two games at the Rocky Mountain Hoops Classic hosted by Colorado, Nov. 24-25.

Tickets for Friday are now available for purchase. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for youth (ages 3-18). Tickets can be purchased at the Knapp Center Ticket Office, by calling 515-271-3647, or visiting www.draketix.com.
 
Season ticket holders will receive tickets as a part of their season ticket package. Season ticket holders with season ticket cards will be able use their card as admission to the game. Season ticket holders with printed, paper tickets must visit the Knapp Center Ticket Office to pick up their game tickets. Tickets may be picked up during regular weekly office hours from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. or at the Will Call windows on game day. Tickets will be left under the account name.
