DES MOINES, Iowa – The Drake University women's basketball defeated Truman State, 90-50, on Sunday afternoon in front of 2,059 fans at the Knapp Center.
Drake raced to a 23-0 lead and never looked back as the Bulldogs led by as many as 44 points in the team's final exhibition contest. Truman State didn't score its first points until 2:16 remained in the first quarter.
Sara Rhine (Eldon, Mo.) led the Drake Bulldogs with 15 points and just missed a double-double with nine rebounds.
Sammie Bachrodt (Wichita, Kan.) and
Maddy Dean (Jordan, Minn.) each scored 14 points. Bachrodt added five steals, four rebounds, two assists and made 6-of-6 from the free throw line while Dean pulled down six rebounds and handed out five assists.
Becca Jonas (Independence, Mo.) had nine points as all 11 Drake Bulldogs scored at least one point.
As a team, Drake shot 54.4 percent from the floor (31-of-57). The Drake Bulldogs dominated the paint with a 42-16 advantage, forced 20 turnovers that led to 42 points and their bench had 40 points.
Drake opens the 2017-18 regular season against Milwaukee on Nov. 10 at the Knapp Center in the first round of the preseason WNIT. Tipoff against the Panthers is scheduled for 7 p.m. and will be broadcast on
