MADISON, Wis. – The Drake University men's tennis team was upended by Wisconsin, 5-2, on Thursday evening at the Nielsen Tennis Stadium.
  
The Badgers swept all three doubles matches to earn the doubles point.

"We truly felt we were putting ourselves in position to win on every singles court. So full credit to Wisconsin for the effort they competed with and outplaying us in key moments. Credit to their coaching staff for keeping them composed in those situations," said Drake head coach Davidson Kozlowski. 

The Bulldogs tied it up at 1-1 with another dominating performance by Vinny Gillespie at No. 1 singles as he rolled past Josef Dodridge, 6-4, 6-1.
 
Wisconsin regained the lead for good when Daniel Soyler edged Ben Wood, 7-5, 7-5 at No. 6.
 
Drake's Ben Stride managed to win his first set 6-4, but Lamar Remy responded to win the next two set 6-3, 6-2 at No. 2 to give UW a 3-1 advantage.
 
The Badgers clinched the hard fought match in a three-setter between UW's Osgar O'Hosin and freshman Barny Thorold. O'Hosin took the first set 6-3, while Thorold won the second, 6-3. In the third and decisive set, O'Hoisin won 6-2 to seal the UW victory.

"We've yet to play with full strength of lineup this season so we are learning and growing. We were excited to finally have Bayo (Philips) back in the lineup after sitting out the past nine months with knee injury. It was very positive for him to win his first match back on the court," said Kozlowski.
 
The Bulldogs will look to bounce back on Saturday, Feb. 25 when they face off against BYU in Eugene Ore. at 2 p.m.
