WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Drake University men's tennis team fell to Purdue, 4-0, on Sunday at the Basham Courts.
 
Purdue secured the doubles point after Gergely Madarasz and Ricky Medinilla defeated Vinny Gillespie and Calum MacGeoch, 6-2 at No. 1 and Dominik Sochurek and Benjamin Ugarte beat Ben Stride and Ben Wood, 6-4 at No. 2.
 
In singles, Madarasz gave Purdue a 2-0 lead with a straight sets win, 6-4, 6-1 over MacGeoch at No. 2. Athell Bennett topped Wood 6-2, 7-5 at No. 6 to extend the Boilermakers' lead to 3-0. Stephan Koenigsfest edged out DU's Barny Thorold, 7-5, 7-6 to clinch the match for Purdue, 4-0.
 
The final three matches went unfinished with the Bulldogs leading two of them in the third set.
 
Drake returns to the Roger Knapp Tennis Center on Sunday, Feb. 12 when the Bulldogs hosts Omaha and Middle Tennessee for a twinbill.
