LEMONT, Ill. –
Drew Ison earned a top-18 finish to lead the Drake University men's golf team at the MVC Championship on Tuesday at the Cog Hill Dubsdread Course in Lemont, Ill.
Ison finished tied for 18th-place after shooting a six-over, 79, for a total score of 231 (79-73-79). Sophomore
Tommi Avant fired a three-over par, 75, in the final round to finish tied for 21st-place with a total score of 232 (80-77-75). Freshman
Chase Wicklund ended his rookie season with a total score of 234 (74-80-80), while junior
Matt Lavery carded a four-over 76 for a 54-hole score of 236 (79-81-76).
Kyle MacDonald rounded out the team's effort with a score of 248 (85-77-86).
The Bulldogs finished in eighth-place with a total score of 929 (312-307-310) and were two strokes back from sevneth-place Bradley. Wichita State claimed the team title with a score of 883, while Illinois State ended up in second-place (888).
The MVC Championship marked the final tournament in the Bulldogs' 2017 season.
