MILWAUKEE, Wis. – The Drake women's soccer team plays at Marquette Friday night in the team's second week of the 2017 season. First kick in Milwaukee is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
Drake (1-1) is coming off a 1-0 victory over Weber State last Sunday in extra time in the Bulldogs' final game of the 2017 UNLV Invite in Las Vegas. Sophomore forward

The Bulldogs had others step forward in the tough playing conditions with a first kick temperature of 97 degrees. Freshman goalkeeper
Kelsie Stone (Hoffman Estates, Ill.) made her first career start playing the first half before being relieved by senior
Haley Morris (Clive, Iowa) who tallied three saves. Seniors
Brooke Salisbury (Kearney, Mo.) and
Ali Smith (Lenexa, Kan.) anchored the Bulldogs' defensive as they each played the entire match and helped limit Weber State to three shots on goal. The neutral site victory came after the team dropped its season opener to host UNLV, 3-0.
Marquette (1-1) defeated Kentucky, 2-1, after dropping its season opener to then No. 4 Stanford, 4-0. Sophomore goalkeeper Maddy Henry made 11 saves for the Golden Eagles in the two games, including a career-best nine in the loss to the Cardinal, to earn BIG EAST Conference Weekly Honor Roll recognition. Forwards Carrie Madden and Abby Hess each scored goals in the win over the Wildcats.
Following the road match at Marquette, Drake will have a week off before its home opener versus UMKC on Sept. 1 at 7 p.m. at the Cownie Soccer Complex.
