The Drake University volleyball team plays its final non-conference tournament of the season Friday at the Buffalo Wild Wings Invitational hosted by Western Illinois in Macomb, Ill.
The Bulldogs begin the day with a 9 a.m. match against McNeese State followed by a 7 p.m. contest against the homestanding WIU Leathernecks.
Drake enters the tournament with an 8-3 overall record after going 3-1 last weekend to finish in second place at its Drake Invitational. Drake's trip to WIU is its third in as many years for a tournament and the Bulldogs have gone 5-2 in their previous tournaments in Macomb. Additionally, the program is 32-17 in non-conference tournaments since 2013.
Drake has had four separate student-athletes earn all-tournament honors so far this season with freshman
Kylee Macke (Ankeny, Iowa) being the latest. At the Drake Invitational, she led all players with 75 digs in the five-team tournament.
While Macke is beginning her Drake career, another Bulldog is climbing up the record book charts in her final season. Senior
Kyla Inderski (Urbandale, Iowa) now has 1,165 career kills to sit in fifth all-time in Drake history and just one kill away from fourth place. Her 1,169 digs are also one dig away from moving her into fifth all-time in that category as well.
Following Friday's two games, the Bulldogs begin Missouri Valley Conference action at Loyola on Sept. 22 followed by a Sept. 23 match at Valley newcomer Valparaiso.
