CONWAY, Ark. – Central Arkansas defeated the Drake University men's soccer team, 3-1, on Tuesday night in Missouri Valley Conference action at the Bill Stephens Soccer and Track Complex in Conway, Ark.
The match was 0-0 until Central Arkansas (3-6, 2-1 MVC) scored in the 55
th minute (55:04) as Pepe San Roman connected on a free kick from 25 yards that went just past the outstretched hands of diving Drake (3-7, 0-2 MVC) goalkeeper
Caden McCullough (Evansville, Ind.). Roman was awarded the free kick after a yellow card was issued to
Aleksi Tuominen (Helsinki, Finland), who had a hard tackle on Roman.
The Bears pushed the score to 2-0 in the 80
th minute (80:05) as Chris Holmes split the Bulldogs' defense and scored from 35 yards out.
Drake didn't back down as freshman
Leroy Enzugusi (Marion, Iowa) continued his hot goal-scoring streak in the 86
th minute (86:56) recording his team-leading fourth goal, all in the past four matches. Enzugusi took a pass from fellow freshman
Stafford Dowling (Hamilton, New Zealand) and blasted his shot in the back of the net from 18 yards out.
However, the Bulldogs couldn't keep the momentum as Central Arkansas' Niklas Brodacki quickly answered in the 87
th minute (87:15) with his sixth goal of the year that sealed the win for the Bears.
