DES MOINES, Iowa – The Drake University women's tennis team is set to host South Dakota and Augustana (S.D.) Sunday at the Roger Knapp Tennis Center for a doubleheader. The Bulldogs open the twinbill against the Coyotes at 9 a.m., followed by the Vikings at 1 p.m.
Drake opened the season with an impressive 5-2 win over Creighton last week. The Bulldogs swept the doubles point to take a quick 1-0 lead. Senior

Liza Petushkova topped Ashley Ishimura and Darby Rosette, 6-3, at No. 1 doubles. Senior
Summer Brills and junior
Joely Lomas defeated Michaele Henne and Erin Epperson, 6-2 at No. 2 to secure the point, while junior
Kenya Williams and freshman
Megan Webb added a 6-2 victory at No. 3.
Petushkova put the Bulldogs up 2-0 with a convincing 6-4, 6-0 win over Rosette at No. 3 singles. Herder gave Drake a 3-0 lead with her 6-2, 6-4 victory over Henne at No. 2 singles. Webb clinched the match for the Bulldogs by defeating Claire Ebree 6-4, 6-4 at No. 5 singles.
South Dakota will square off against Iowa State on Saturday as the Coyotes come to Des Moines with a 2-0 record. USD topped Seattle (4-3) and Portland (5-2) last weekend. The Coyotes are led by freshman Jana Lazarevic, who is 2-0 at No. 1 singles.
Augustana, who is Division II members, will also face off against Iowa State on Saturday for its season opener. The Vikings won the NSIC Championship and fell in the first round of the Division II NCAA Championship last spring. Augustana welcomes back junior Kornelia Stanisqewska, who went 13-0 at No. 1 singles last year.
Following Sunday's doubleheader, the Bulldogs travels to Omaha, Neb. on Saturday Feb. 3 to a doubleheader against Omaha and North Dakota.
