DES MOINES, Iowa – The Drake University women's tennis team earned a pair of wins Sunday at the Roger Knapp Tennis Center as the Bulldogs topped South Dakota 5-2 and Augustana (S.D.) 4-0.
 
The Bulldogs began their day by sweeping the doubles point over South Dakota. Tess Herder and Liza Petushkova cruised past Jana Lazarevic and Nanette Nylund, 6-1 at No. 1 doubles, while Summer Brills and Joely Lomas secured the point with a 6-3 win over Aria Chemodanova and Anastasi Bondarenko at No. 2 doubles.
 
Drake continued to roll in singles winning the first set on five of the six courts.
 
Lomas made quick work of Bondarenko, winning 6-1 6-2 at No. 4 singles and giving Drake a 2-0 lead. Brills and Petuskova earned straight set wins of their own at No. 1 and No. 3 singles, respectively to secure the Bulldog victory.
 
Kenya Williams registered the final win for the Drake with a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Chemodanova at No. 5.
 
In the nightcap of the doubleheader, Drake once again swept the doubles point to go up 1-0 over Augustana.
 
Petushkova only dropped one game in a 6-1, 6-0 rout of Grace Goble at No. 3 singles and gave Drake a 2-0 lead.
 
After dropping her first match of the day, Herder bounced back and rolled to a 6-2, 6-0 victory over Augustana's Berkley Darr at No. 2 singles, extending Drake's lead to 3-0.
 
Williams sealed the 4-0 Bulldog victory with her 6-4, 6-2 win over Annika Teske at No. 5 singles.
 
Drake returns to action on Saturday with a doubleheader at Omaha as the Bulldogs will square off against the Mavericks and North Dakota at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., respectively.
