TULSA, Okla. - The Drake University men's tennis team had student-athletes advance in both singles and doubles action Friday, Oct. 19, during the second day of competition at the ITA Central Regional Championship.

Senior Vinny Gillespie (Stirling, Scotland) was the lone singles player to advance through Thursday's first two rounds. Friday, he continued to advance by defeating Wichita State's Haru Inoue, 7-6, 6-2. Gillespie is one of 16 remaining competitors in the field and will face Tulsa's Majed Kilani Saturday morning at 10 a.m.

Gillespie also teamed up with Barny Thorold (Loughborough, England) in doubles action to defeat Minnesota's Allen/Ogilvy, 8-4. The duo will face Oklahoma's Calvo/Van Emburgh Saturday at 4 p.m.
