Cathryn Cheek (Coppell, Texas) and sophomore
Natalie Fry (Allen, Texas) have been named to the Missouri Valley Conference Volleyball Scholar-Athlete Team, the league announced Tuesday, Nov. 20.
Cheek earned first-team honors while Fry was named to the honorable mention team in her first year of eligibility for the award.
Cheek's honor comes following a regular season in which she led the Bulldogs with 391 kills and ranked fourth in the MVC in kills per set with 3.76.
She finished her senior season with 15-straight matches in double-figure kills and 11 double-doubles during that span.
Academically, she boasts a 3.75 grade point average in media production.
Middle blocker
Natalie Fry earned honorable mention honors by virtue of a perfect 4.0 GPA as an accounting major. She finished the regular season second on the team in blocks with 98 total stops and was second on the team in hitting percentage as well as she racked up 165 kills from the middle.
The pair lead the team into the first round of the MVC Tournament Thursday, Nov. 22, when they face Bradley at 5 p.m. in Springfield, Mo.
