DES MOINES, Iowa – The Drake University women's basketball completed its preseason slate with a 92-55 victory over Pittsburg State Saturday at the Knapp Center in Drake's final exhibition contest.

Sara Rhine (Eldon, Mo.) led all scorers with 18 points and three other Bulldogs finished in double figures. Junior
Brenni Rose (Shawnee, Kan.) added 15 points off the bench while junior
Becca Hittner (Urbandale, Iowa) and senior
Sammie Bachrodt (Wichita, Kan.) rounded out the group with 11 and 10 points, respectively. Redshirt senior
Becca Jonas (Independence, Mo.) just missed a double-double with eight points and a game-high nine rebounds.
Drake dominated the glass and the paint. The Bulldogs outrebounded the Gorillas, 55-20 and muscled their way to a 58-12 advantage in the paint. Drake finished at 59.0 percent from the field (36-of-61) with 27 assists. Sophomore
Maddie Monahan (Silver Lake, Minn.) handed out a game-high five.
Drake held a 29-6 lead at the end of first quarter and would lead by as many as 43 points in the comfortable win. Rhine had 10 points as seven Bulldogs scored. The team held the Gorillas to just two baskets and forced eight turnovers, scoring 10 points off the miscues.
Drake built its lead to 48-18 at halftime. The Bulldogs' bench scored 27 points while the team continued its dominance in the paint with a 42-4 advantage. 13 players logged eight or more minutes in the final exhibition. Rose played the most minutes at 21.
Drake starts the regular season Wednesday, Nov. 7 at Nebraska. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Pinnacle Bank Arena. The game will be streamed on BTN Plus and broadcast on the airwaves on 1350 ESPN Des Moines.
