Football Closes Home Slate Saturday

The team will also honor its seniors prior to the final home game of the season.

DES MOINES, Iowa – The Drake University football team hosts Pioneer Football League foe Marist at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, for the final home game of the season.

Prior to the game there will be a program to honor the team's seniors for their accomplishments at Drake.

Drake (5-3, 4-2 PFL) slipped out of the top two spots in the PFL last week with a 27-10 loss to first-place San Diego. The Toreros bottled up Drake's typically potent offense and the Bulldogs' lone touchdown was a Jeran Proctor interception return early in the second quarter. The pick-6 was the third this season for Drake vaunted defense that still ranks in the top 15 nationally in multiple categories.

Marist (5-4, 5-1 PFL) is still in the hunt for the Pioneer League title, and they will likely need to win their final two games of the season to take home the regular season championship, including the season finale against San Diego.

The Red Foxes have a balanced offense, rushing for 123.7 yards per game, and passing for 232.0 yards per game. They have been on a tear offensively the past three games, averaging 43.7 points per game in that stretch.

Drake leads the all-time series 6-0, including 3-0 at home. The last time the two teams met, the result was a 19-14 Bulldogs win in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. where kicker Danny Donley went 4-of-4 on field goals to hold the lead against Marist's late push.

After Saturday's game, Drake will head to Morehead, Ky. to close out the season against Morehead State at 12 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17.
