Volleyball Hosts Final Homestand of the Season

Bulldogs to honor their seniors Saturday night in the home finale

The Drake University volleyball team is back in the Knapp Center for its final two home games of the season, starting with the Southern Illinois Salukis 7 p.m. Friday evening at 7 p.m. on ESPN+.

The Bulldogs then take on the Missouri State Bears Saturday evening at 7 p.m. to finish up their season in Des Moines. That game will be on The Valley on ESPN and will also be the Bulldogs' 'Senior Night' as the program honors seniors Cathryn Cheek, Grace Schofield and Sara Jensen.

Drake (17-12, 5-9 MVC) is returning home after dropping two matches on the road to Illinois State and Bradley. The Bulldogs played well against the Redbirds, but were not able to take a set against one of the first-place team in the MVC. Undeterred by the loss, the Bulldogs went on to compete against the Braves, taking one set and keeping the others within reach in tough road match.

Southern Illinois (5-22, 1-13 MVC) has only one conference win on the season that came against Indiana State in Carbondale, Ill., last Friday.

The Bulldogs have already bested the Salukis in three sets earlier this season led by Cathryn Cheek's (Coppell, Texas) 16 kills and Paige Aspinwall's (Dayton, Minn.) 35 assists.

Missouri State (15-12, 8-6 MVC) is on coming to Des Moines following its game against Northern Iowa on Friday. Going into Cedar Falls, the Bears are on a four-game win streak against Southern Illinois, Valparaiso, Evansville, and Indiana State. Drake will be looking to win its first match against Missouri State since 2010.

Following Drake's final games in the Knapp Center this season, Drake hits the road for a pair games against Indiana State Friday, Nov. 16 and then on to Evansville Saturday, Nov. 17.
