DES MOINES, Iowa – The 49th-ranked Drake University men's tennis team travels to Minneapolis for a pair of matches as the Bulldogs square off against No. 41 Minnesota on Friday at 6 p.m. and Penn on Saturday at 3 p.m. at the Baseline Tennis Center.
The Bulldogs head into the weekend riding a seven-match winning streak with a 10-4 record. Last weekend, Drake swept UAB and George Washington and then topped defending Summit League champions Denver to improve to 3-0 in Summit League play. Junior
Tom Hands was named Summit League Player of the Week for his pair of singles wins and 3-0 doubles record last week. Hands is tied on the team with fellow junior
Ben Clark with nine singles wins.
The Gophers welcome the Bulldogs with a 4-3 record and are coming off a win over Wisconsin. Stefan Millcevic leads the team in singles as he is ranked 45th in the latest rankings. In doubles, Felix Corwin and Matic Spec rank No. 58 nationally to lead the team.
Before taking on the Bulldogs on Saturday, Penn travels to Wisconsin on Friday. The Quakers are 3-5 on the season.
Following the trip to the Land of 10,000 Lakes, the Bulldogs continue their month-long road trip to the Hoosier State. Drake will take on Indiana on Friday, March 2 and then Purdue on Sunday, March 4.
