DES MOINES, Iowa – The Drake University women's tennis team dropped a tough 4-1 decision to Colorado State on Sunday at the Roger Knapp Tennis Center.
 
"It was definitely a battle and had a few three setters. It started with doubles. I think Colorado State came out very strong and aggressive. I think we had some chances but we didn't bring our 'A' game and we needed it today," said Drake head coach Mai-Ly Tran.
 
The Rams jumped out to a 1-0 by winning the doubles point and then extended their lead to 3-0 with wins at No. 6 and No. 2 singles, respectively.
 
Freshman Liza Petushkova put the Bulldogs on the board with a 6-4, 7-5 win over Alyssa Grijalva at No. 3 singles.
 
CSU's Emma Corwin came back from a set to down to clinch the match for the Rams with a 0-6, 6-2, 6-4 win over Joely Lomas at No. 5 singles.
 
The Bulldogs travel to Illinois for a pair of games against Missouri-St. Louis and SIUE.
