Women's Tennis Set to Take on UMSL and SIUE

DES MOINES, Iowa – The Drake University women's tennis team travels to the state of Illinois for a pair of matches against Missouri-St. Louis and SIUE this weekend. The Bulldogs and the Tritons square off at the St. Clair Tennis Club in O'Fallon, Ill. at 3:30 p.m. on Friday and then Drake turns around to take on the Cougars at noon on Saturday.

Drake heads into the weekend with a 7-2 record after coming off a tough 4-1 setback to Colorado State in its last time out. In the loss to the Rams, Tess Herder and Liza Petushkova suffered their first doubles loss of the season for an 8-1 record.

Petushkova leads the team with eight singles wins with an 8-1 mark at No. 3 singles. Seniors Summer Brills and Herder each have recorded six singles wins at the team's top two spots.

UMSL, who is a NCAA Division II member, holds a 1-1 record after falling to Illinois State, 4-1, on Feb. 17.

SIUE will host Western Illinois in Friday before taking in the Bulldogs. The Cougars have a 0-7 record and have only managed to score one point in those seven outings.

Following this weekend's matches, the Bulldogs return to the Roger Knapp Tennis Center to host Montana State and Grand Canyon on March 9 and March 10, respectively.
