ST. LOUIS, Mo. - For the second time this season, Drake University senior
Reed Timmer (New Berlin, Wis.) has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Men's Basketball Co-Player of the Week, the league announced Monday, Feb. 5.
Timmer earned the honor after a historic week in which he became Drake's all-time scoring leader with 1,812 career points and moved into 30
th in career scoring in the MVC record book. He shared the Valley's weekly honor with Evansville's Ryan Taylor who averaged 28.5 points per game on the week.
In the pair of games last week, he averaged 27.0 points on 14-of-29 shooting, 7-of-16 from the three-point arc and was 19-of-22 at the free-throw line. He opened the week with 22 points in the loss to SIU and followed that up by matching a career-high with 32 points in the road win at Bradley.
With a three-pointer at the 4:56 mark in the first half at Bradley, he became Drake's all-time leading scorer, passing Josh Young's 1,789 career points. He was also 12-of-14 from the free-throw line at Bradley including 6-of-6 in the final minute to help preserve the Bulldogs' win as he scored 17 second-half points to push the Bulldogs to victory.
His two performances of 20 or more points on the week gives him 11 such performances on the year, the second most in the league and he has the most 30-point games this season of any Valley player this season.
