DES MOINES, Iowa – Fifth-year head coach
Rick Fox unveiled the Drake University football team's 2018 schedule on Friday, which features six games at Drake Stadium and a road game at Montana.
"Our six home games give our fans a tremendous opportunity to see their Bulldogs in Des Moines," said Fox. "The Bulldogs cannot wait for Sept. 1 and to get back on the field and play the greatest game on the planet."
Drake opens the 2018 campaign at home versus NCAA Division II William Jewell on Sept. 1 at 6 p.m. in Drake Stadium for the second time in the last four years. The Bulldogs topped the Cardinals in their 2015 season opener.
The Bulldogs head to Missoula, Mont. on Sept. 8 to take on the Montana Grizzlies. The Grizzlies have made 23 playoff appearances, including seven FCS Championship games.
"We are excited to have the opportunity to play the Montana Grizzlies in one of the premier stadiums in the nation and against a perennial FCS power," said Fox.
Drake closes out its non-conference schedule on Sept. 15 when it hosts Missouri S&T for the first time since 2011.
The Bulldogs kick off Pioneer Football League action with a road trip to Jacksonville on Sept. 29.
Drake returns to Drake Stadium for back-to-back home games, welcoming Butler (Oct. 6) and Stetson (Oct. 13) to open the month of October.
The team follows up the two-game home stand with consecutive road contests at Dayton (Oct. 20) and Valparaiso (Oct. 27), respectively.
Drake heads into the final month of the season with a pair of home games, hosting defending PFL champions San Diego (Nov. 3) and Marist (Nov. 10) in its home finale.
