Box Score SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Drake University women's tennis earned a 5-2 road win over Missouri State Sunday at the Cooper Tennis Complex. With the win, Drake (15-5, 5-0 MVC) went undefeated in Missouri Valley Conference play and earned the top seed at the MVC Tournament.
The Bulldogs managed to taken an early 1-0 lead by earning the doubles point.
Mela Jaglarz and
Kenya Williams won 6-3 at No. 3, while
Tess Herder and
Liza Petushkova secured the point with 6-4 win at No. 1.
Herder put the Bulldogs up 2-0 with a straight set win over Phoebe Boeschen, at No. 3 singles.
Jaglarz then gave Drake a 3-0 lead as she earned a straight set win over Abbey Belote at No. 6.
The Bears got on the board with a win at No. 1, but Petushkova clinched the Bulldogs undefeated MVC season with a hard fought three-set, 6-2, 5-7, 6-3 victory over Anelisse Torrico at No. 2.
Megan Webb capped off the Bulldogs day with the team's final win at No. 5 singles.
The Bulldogs will return to Springfield, Mo. for the MVC Tournament, which will get underway on Friday, April 27. The MVC Tournament bracket will be release Sunday evening.
