SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Drake University women's tennis team suffered a tough 4-2 defeat to Missouri State in the semifinals of the Missouri Valley Conference Championship Saturday at the Cooper Tennis Complex in Springfield, Mo.
 
The Bears narrowly took the doubles point, which came down to a tiebreaker. Phoebe Boeschen and Anelisse Torrico edged Summer Brills and Megan Webb 10-8 in the tiebreaker to secure the doubles point for MSU.
 
Brills tied the match up at 1-1 with her straight sets win over Alye Darter, 6-2, 6-2 at No. 1 singles.
 
The Bears retook the lead with a win at No. 4 singles and extended their lead to 3-1 after victory at No. 6.
 
Webb cut the Bulldogs deficit to 3-2 as she earned a three-set, 6-4, 3-6, 6-3, win over Ellie Burger at No. 5.
 
Missouri State clinched the 4-2 win with a three-set victory at No. 3 singles.
 
The Bulldogs finish the 2018 season with a 15-6 overall record.
