Volleyball Aims To Keep Tournament Streak Alive At Mizzou Invitational

The Bulldogs have been tournament champions in all three tournaments they have appeared in this season.

The Drake University volleyball team plays its final tournament of the non-conference season Sept. 14-15 at the Mizzou Invitational.

The Bulldogs take on Ohio and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Friday, Sept. 14, at 1:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. Drake closes the tournament Saturday against the hosts, Missouri, at 2:30 p.m. on the SEC Network+.

The Bulldogs travel to Missouri with a 9-1 record and the team has won all three tournaments it has played in to date, including last weekend's Hotel Renovo-Wildwood Lodge Invitational at the Knapp Center.

Drake's lone loss this season came to Iowa in the Hotel Renovo-Wildwood Lodge Invitational finale in a 3-0 sweep. Despite that loss, Drake has won 27 of the 31 sets it has played this year.

However, the Mizzou Invitational features one of the tougher fields Drake has faced this season including a 7-2 Missouri team.

The Bulldogs start the final week of non-conference action leading the Missouri Valley Conference in six categories, including blocks (2.79) and digs (18.68) per set. Nationally, Drake ranks 13th and fifth in those categories, respectively.

Following this weekend's matches, the Bulldogs close non-conference play at Kansas Sept. 18 before welcoming UNI to the Knapp Center to begin MVC action Sept. 21.
