WEST DES MOINES, Iowa – The Drake University men's golf team is set to host the fourth annual Zach Johnson Invitational on Monday-Tuesday, Oct. 1-2 at the Glen Oaks Country Club in West Des Moines, Iowa.
The Zach Johnson Invitational will be a three-round tournament with two rounds on Monday (36 holes) and the final round Tuesday (18 holes). Play will begin at 8:30 a.m. Monday and 9 a.m. Tuesday.
The 54-hole event will feature 12 teams; Bradley, Creighton, Drake, Eastern Illinois, Green Bay, IUPUI, Loyola, North Dakota State, South Dakota, UNI, Valparaiso and Western Illinois.
In Drake's last tournament, senior
Arjun Reddy (Tulsa, Okla.) and freshman
Lucas Scherf (Grinnell, Iowa) each finished tied for 37
th at the SIUE Derek Dolenc Invitational. Scherf and Reddy carded a 74 and a 75, respectively, on the final day. Reddy, playing as an individual (74-73-75), and Scherf (76-72-74) each posted a total score of 222. One stroke back was junior
Chase Wicklund (Scottsdale, Ariz.) who tallied a 73 on the final day for a total score of 223 (78-72-73) as he tied for 41st. Senior
Tommi Avant (Chandler, Ariz.) was next with a 225 (76-74-75) while freshman
Shayne Patel (Edmond, Okla.) posted an 81 on the final day as he finished at 228 (74-73-81). Junior
Kyle MacDonald (Burlington, Ontario) rounded out the Bulldogs' efforts with a score of 232 (79-76-77).
Following the Zach Johnson Invitational, Drake hosts Creighton in duel play Oct. 15 at the Wakonda Club in Des Moines.
