The Drake University men's basketball team plays the first of back-to-back road games Sunday when it faces in-state rival UNI. Tipoff is set for 3 p.m. at the McLeod Center with the game being broadcast on Fox Sports regional networks, NBC Sports Chicago and ESPN+ in out-of-market locations.
The two squads have matching 1-2 conference records after Drake defeated SIU, 82-70, Tuesday evening. In its last two MVC games, Drake has enjoyed leads of 26 and 16 points in its last two MVC games. In those two contests, Drake started the games shooting a combined 16-of-20 from the field.
Senior
Nick McGlynn is averaging 18.7 points and 9.3 rebounds per game in MVC action to lead the league in both categories. Last season against UNI, he averaged 15.0 points in a pair of games.
Sophomore guard
Noah Thomas had a career-high 24 points with four three-pointers in the win over SIU in his second career start as he takes over the starting role from the injured
Nick Norton.
Drake, along with UNI, both lead the MVC with 28 three-pointers through the first three MVC games. The Bulldogs have made 23 of those shots in the last two games. That long range shooting has helped Drake average 80.8 points per game this season, the highest mark in the Valley and 49th nationally.
UNI averages just 65.4 points per game with freshman A.J. Green's 15.1 points per game leading the way.
