Drake University women's basketball redshirt senior Becca Jonas (Independence, Mo.) is one of 60 women's basketball players from across the country selected to take part in the 17^th annual "So You Want To Be A Coach" program. Jonas will participate in a three-day workshop put on by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) in partnership with WeCOACH April 3-5 in Tampa Bay, Fla during the 2019 NCAA Women's Basketball Final Four.
 
Jonas is one of 36 Division I women's basketball players chosen and the first Drake player since Caitlin Ingle participated in 2017. Participants were selected based on academics, contributions to women's basketball on and off the court, professional resume and a written recommendation from their head coach.
 
"I'm so grateful for the opportunity to be a part of the 'So You Want To Be A Coach' program," said Jonas. "I love this game and have always wanted to coach and give back to women's basketball. This is an exciting way to start making that happen."
 
Jonas has missed the last nine contests this season due to injury, but has found success throughout her time as a Bulldog. She has tallied 883 points, 651 rebounds and has started 101 of the 102 games she has played in her career. The Independence, Mo. native has garnered MVC All-Conference Honorable Mention honors along with earning a spot on the MVC Scholar-Athlete team for two consecutive seasons.
 
"Playing at Drake under Jennie and the rest of our coaches has been a privilege, and I'm thankful to have been able to learn from them for the last five years," Jonas said. "I'm excited to have a few more months to compete with my team this season, and I know my entire Drake experience has prepared me for what's next."
 
Jonas graduated with her bachelor of arts in Digital Media Production in May, 2018. She will graduate with her master's degree in Communication in May, 2019.
