Petushkova and Haleas Advance to Title Matches at MVC Individual Championships

Bulldogs to compete for league titles Sunday

WATERLOO, Iowa - Drake University's Liza Petushkova and Sophia Haleas advanced in semifinal action Saturday at the Missouri Valley Conference Women's Tennis Individual Championships. 

The pair will play in the title matches Sunday in their respective flights.

Petushkova advanced in her semifinal match at No. 2 singles with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Missouri State's Anna Alons. 

Drake's Haleas earned a 6-4, 6-0 victory against Missouri State's Taylor Shaw to play for the No. 4 singles title.

The Bulldogs will also be represented in the championship match of the No. 2 doubles flight as the team of Joely Lomas and Carmen Palumbo claimed an 8-6 win against the team from Bradley to advance. 

In addition to the three title matches, the Bulldogs' Palumbo and Maria Tartarnikova will play in the third-place match of the No. 1 and 3 singles flights, respectively.
