ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Drake women's soccer player Vanessa Kavan was named to the Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete First Team for the second-consecutive year, the Valley announced Tuesday.
 
Kavan has been honored for her academic and athletic achievements multiple times during her career as a Bulldog.
 
On Nov. 7, she was one of 11 honorees from District Six, comprised of 11 states, to be named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team.
 
Kavan was featured as the MVC Scholar-Athlete of the Week on Sept. 26 and collected the State Farm MVC Good Neighbor Award on Oct. 30.
 
Kavan, a redshirt senior from Lincoln, Neb., touts a 3.98 GPA as a marketing major.
 
On the field, she led Drake with three assists and ranked second on the team with two goals and seven points.
 
Kavan earned a spot on the All-MVC First Team this season after being tabbed a second-team selection in 2018.
