DES MOINES, Iowa - The Drake University women's basketball team defeated Simpson, 95-35, in its final exhibition game on Sunday, Nov. 3. Afternoon at the Knapp Center
 
The Bulldogs were led by senior Becca Hittner (Urbandale, Iowa) who finished with 18 points on 6-of-12 shooting. Hittner added seven rebounds and two assists in just 14 minutes. Redshirt sophomore Kierra Collier (Kansas City, Mo.) totaled 14 points, including a trio of three-pointers, to go with five assists and one steal.
 
Redshirt senior Sara Rhine (Eldon, Mo.) had 13 points and finished 6-for-6 from two-point range. Redshirt senior Monica Burich (Roseville, Minn.) led the Bulldogs with 10 rebounds in 14 minutes, and senior Brenni Rose (Shawnee, Kan.) dished out a game-high six assists without recording a turnover. In total, 11 Bulldogs scored, and nine finished with five or more points.
 
Drake held the Storm to 20.0 percent shooting, and just five Simpson players recorded a field goal. The Storm were led by Cassie Chubb who ended with nine points, all from beyond the arc.
 
The Bulldogs open the regular season at home against 2019 Sweet 16 participant South Dakota State on Friday, Nov. 8 at 6 p.m. The game opens a two-game homestand against 2019 NCAA Tournament teams with in-state rival Iowa State coming to the Knapp Center on Sunday, Nov. 10.
